19/10 – 20/10/2019 – concerts with the Hungarian choir CANTEMUS

In October 2019, the guest of "Puellae Orantes" was the best Hungarian choir - "Cantemus", which is part of the Choir Institute in Nyíregyháza. Cantemus is a record winner of over 50 first prizes in prestigious international competitions and of the 14 Grand Prix awards. The aforementioned Institute has published over 40 records. The Tarnów choir met with the "Cantemus" group during the Leonardo da Vinci International Competition in Florence in 2017.

The "Cantemus" and "Puellae Orantes" choirs performed two concerts in Poland. One took place in the cathedral basilica in Tarnów. The program of this concert consisted of sacred compositions of Hungarian and Polish composers. The second took place at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center in Lusławice, and due to its educational nature it was addressed primarily to school kids. Pupils with best work results, engaged in various activities of their schools and communities were invited to the concert. The concert was a presentation of the achievements of Polish and Hungarian culture, in a light, accessible form, accompanied by a verbal commentary that helped to convey knowledge about similarities and differences, Polish and Hungarian music, as well as historical ties connecting both countries.

The concert finale was song "Vivat Polonia", composed especially for this occasion by Łukasz Farcinkiewicz. The project was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund, with the financial support of the Lesser Poland Voivodship, the Institute of Polish-Hungarian Cooperation and the budget of the City of Tarnów.
