On September 19 at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center in Lusławice the Benefis of the Girls’ Cathedral Choir “Puellae Orantes”, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of artistic activity, took place.
The choir presented a diverse repertoire that is the quintessence and summary of the artistic achievements of “Puellae Orantes”. The program consisted of songs that were particularly well-established in the band’s history: they were performed at international competitions and festivals, during concert tours and were recorded on CDs.
In the first part of the concert, the a’capella choir was presented. In the second – the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Michał Klauza – Artistic Director of the Polish Radio Orchestra and Music Director of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, performed along with the choir. Both bands performed works recorded by the choir on “Magnificate et glorificate Dominum”, “Viennese Classic”, “Ave Maria” and “The Trail of Strauss”, which in 2015 gained the status of the Gold Record. During the concert, the Gold Record award was handed over to the conductor of the choir by the Representative of the Audio-Video Producers Union, Mr. Marek Staszewski.
The final of the Benefis was a vocal-instrumental work – “Gloria” – composed specially for this occasion by Łukasz Farcinkiewicz. During the concert, the world premiere of this song took place. It was enthusiastically received by the audience, which filled the Concert Hall in Lusławice.
In recognition of invaluable merits for Polish culture, the Choir received a Special Award from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, prof. Małgorzata Omilanowska. It was a medal of the Małopolska Voivodeship – Polonia Minor, in thanks for the development of cultural life in Małopolska and work for the region and its inhabitants.
