16/01/2016 & 17/01/2016 – A New Year with Canadian Brass and Puellae Orantes

In January 2016, the Girls’ Cathedral Choir “Puellae Orantes” realized a unique artistic project in cooperation with the most famous brass quintet in the world – CANADIAN BRASS. The band was formed in 1970 in Toronto. The diverse repertoire of “Canadian Brass” contains both “brass” standards as well as a wide range of original arrangements created especially for them. The band recorded over 130 albums. Their total sales exceeded 2 million copies. “Canadian Brass” perform on all continents. They were the first western “brass” band that performed in the People’s Republic of China and in Carnegie Hall. They were repeatedly invited by the Government of Canada to play for the leaders of other countries, and became the real musical ambassadors of Canada.

The “Canadian Brass” band performed in Poland together with the choir “Puellae Orantes” two unique concerts:
– on January 16 at the ICE Krakow Congress Center Auditorium,
– on January 17 at the NOSPR Concert Hall in Katowice.

During the concerts our guests presented a very diverse repertoire, creating humorous, unique stage creations. Together with the Tarnów choir, “Canadian Brass” performed Polish carols and pastorals and international standards of Christmas music, arranged by Łukasz Farcinkiewicz. The encore was “Z kopyta kulig rwie” and “Do not worry, be happy”. The concerts were enthusiastically received by three and a half thousand people.

The Patron of the Choir is TAURON.
