11-15/07/2017 – “Puellae Orantes” once again among the finalists of the Grand Prix of the international choral competition

From 11 to 15 July “Puellae Orantes” took part in the Leonardo da Vinci International Competition in Florence. The choir performed in three categories, winning a gold diploma in the category of sacred music, winning the category of youth and university choirs, which claimed him to participate in the Grand Prix competition, and winning a silver diploma in the category of pop, folk, jazz.

The competition was attended by choirs from Australia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, the Philippines, Hungary, France, Poland, Slovakia, Taiwan and Ukraine.

The organizers were very keen on the high artistic level of the first edition of the competition, therefore invited to participate in it were titled teams. Most of them are national choirs, multiple winners of international competitions and performers all over the world.

The winner of the Grand Prix was a choir from Manila (Philippines), representing professional vocal level and extraordinary acting skills.

All events took place in the unique places of historic Florence. Auditions of the sacred music category took place in the church of All Saints from the 13th century. The auditions of the other categories took place at the La Compagnia Theater, and the Grand Prix at the Verdi Theater. In the same place the Final Concert took place, during which pieces from the operatic repertoire of Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, Mascagni and Bizet were presented. The concert was attended by choirs participating in the competition, orchestras and hospitable soloists, a total of about 700 people. In addition, the “Puellae Orantes” choir performed during an accompanying concert, in the church of the Holy Apostles, one of the oldest Florentine churches, popularly called the Old Florence Cathedral.

The repertoire, which the choir performed in Italy, will be presented during the concert on September 22 at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center in Lusławice.
