On 8 January, 2011 at 7.30 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica in Tarnow, the New Year’s Concert took place. The program of the concert included carols and pastorals prepared for the choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ by the following composers: Paweł Łukaszewski and Miłosz Bembinow and carols designed for a string quartet by Zbigniew Słowik.
During the concert, the outstanding string quartet “DAFÔ” performed exceptionally. The three CDs of the quartet were awarded with “Fryderyk” – the award of the Polish Phonographic Academy.
The New Year’s Concert in Tarnów was a unique artistic undertaking due to the first performance of the „Dziecię Narodzone” carol suite for the female choir and the string quartet, composed by Miłosz Bembinow. The composer conducted his work.
To create the right mood, the Cathedral Basilica was professionally illuminated by the “Light Design Laboratory” company.
The concert was under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Tarnow Bishop Wiktor Skworc and the President of the City of Tarnów, Ryszard Ścigała.
The New Year’s Concert in Tarnów was recorded live on a DVD. Studion versions of the songs presented during the concert were recorded in the Podkarpacka Philharmonic in Rzeszów. The above repertoire will be released in a double CD / DVD album entitled “Łukaszewski & Bembinow”. The album’s publisher will be DUX.
