In January 2014, the Girls ‘Cathedral Choir performed exceptional concerts with the participation of the Vienna Soloists’ Orchestra.
The Orchestra of Vienna Soloists includes musicians playing in the most famous Austrian orchestras (Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra and the Opera Orchestra). Piotr Gładki is the artistic director of the Orchestra. The band’s goal is to especially nurture Viennese performance traditions of Strauss, Lanner and other dynasties. The band performed on various continents, giving concerts in the world’s best concert halls. He has recorded numerous recordings for ORF (Austrian public television), LT1, NHK (Japanese TV), TVP and TVP Polonia. Every year, he is touring to Japan.
The Vienna concerts made a program for New Year’s concerts broadcast from Vienna to the whole world. They were a unique opportunity to hear famous waltzes and polkas performed in vocal-instrumental manner, including “Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka”, or “The Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz” by Johann Strauss. During the concerts, Polish accents also sounded, including „Dziecię Narodzone” carol suite by Miłosz Bembinow.
The first concert took place on January 17 at the Krakow Philharmonic of Karol Szymanowski. The first part of the concert was guested by Wolfgang Sobotka – the Austrian conductor and cellist. A versatile man with a surprising biography. He was a lecturer at the University of Music and Arts in Vienna, and also took part in the International Conducting Competition Arturo Toscanini and was a finalist in the International Master Conductors’ Conduct. He divides his passions between music and politics. He is currently the deputy governor of Lower Austria.
During the concert, the premiere of the “Warsaw-Vienna Waltz” by Łukasz Farcinkiewicz, prepared especially for concerts with the participation of the Vienna Soloists, was performed.
On January 19, 2014, the Vienna Concert took place in the Concert Hall of the Music Academy of Karol Szymanowski in Katowice. During the break of the concert there was an auction for the Cordis Hospice from Katowice. The concert was recorded by the Katowice Television.
