06/01/2013 i 12/01/2013 CHRISTMAS CAROLS CONCERTS IN KATOWICE AND SOSNOWIEC

On 6 January, in the Christ the King’s Cathedral in Katowice, the choir gave Christmas Carols Concert to promote the album ‘Łukaszewski & Bembinow. Carols and Pastorals’. The concert was dedicated to His Excellency Wiktor Skworc - the Archbishop of Katowice, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of his ordination as a bishop.

The next concert, with the repertoire of carols, took place on 12 January in the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sosnowiec.

05/01/2013 THIRD TARNOW NEW YEAR CONCERT

On January 5, 2013, in the Theatre named after L. Solski, the Third Tarnów New Year Concert took place. The guest appearance at the event was made by the vocal band AudioFeels. AudioFeels is an eight-member team that performs the music in the Vocal Play style. The band - by employing possibilities of voice to a maximum – gets closer in its sound to groups that while performing, use a percussion, a tube bas, an eclectic guitar, a brass section etc.

The group became known to wide audience during the television program ‘Poland’s Got Talent’. Their systematic work on their artistic expression led to an international success. In 2011, AudioFeels was a laureate of two the most important prizes of the International Contest A’capella in Leipzig. In 2012, the band achieved a spectacular success in the United States. At the competition Harmony Sweepstakes in New York, the vocal team from Poznań was awarded the First Prize and the Audience Prize. This victory ensured the possibility for AudioFeels to represent New York at the contest finals in San Rafael in California. Through the long history of Sweepstakes Competition none of Polish bands has been given such a high award.

29/12/2012 CONCERT IN THE MISSIONARY CHURCH IN TARNOW

On 29 December , in the Missionary Church in Tarnow, the Christmas Carols Concert was held whose purpose was to promote the album ‘Łukaszewski & Bembinow. Carols and Pastorals’. The performers were: The Girls’ Cathedral Choir ‘Puellae Orantes’, the string quartet ‘Airis’, the conductor – Rev. Władysław Pachota.

At the concert, the President of the Group TAURON Polska Energia S.A. – Mr Dariusz Lubera, handed diplomas of the Association of Audio-Video Producers to the girls for FRYDERYK 2012 Award.

15/12/2012 CONCERT IN THE PODKARPACKA PHILHARMONIC

On 15 December the choir gave the Advent-Christmas Carols Concert in the Podkarpacka Philharmonic named after Artur Malawski in Rzeszów.

The event promoted two latest records of the choir – ‘Ave Maria’ and ‘Łukaszewski & Bembinow. Carols and Pastorals’. The concert was a sort of journey back to the past as the record with carols, awarded with Fryderyk 2012, had been recorded in the Concert Hall of the Podkarpacka Philharmonic.

17/10/2012 - 24/10/2012 CONCERTS IN FRANCE. PROMOTION OF ‘AVE MARIA‘ ALBUM.

In October, 2012 ‘Puellae Orantes’ took another trip abroad, this time to France. On 18,19 and 20 October, the Tarnów group gave three concerts to promote ‘Ave Maria’ record in Burgundy. Next concerts were held in the concert hall of the Centre of Culture named after M. Corneloup in St. Leger and in the other towns – Saint Honore les Bains and Perreuil.

13/10/2012 i 14/10/2012 CONCERTS PROMOTING THE ALBUM ‘AVE MARIA’ IN KRAKOW AND BOCHNIA

The next concerts that were promoting the album ‘Ave Maria’ took place on 13 October in St. Mary’ Basilica in Krakow and on 14 October in St. Nicolas Basilica in Bochnia.

The performers were:

23/09/2012 CONCERT IN THE CHURCH OF THE HOLIEST SAVIOUR IN WARSAW

At the invitation of the firm M8 Triforium3 Sp. Z o.o. SKA, the Choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ gave a concert in the Church of the Holiest Saviour in Warsaw at which the repertoire from the newest record ‘Ave Maria’ was presented.

06/09/2012 CONCERT AT THE LUBOMIRSKI CASTLE IN NOWY WIŚNICZ. PROMOTION OF ‘AVE MARIA’ ALBUM

The first concert that promoted the album ‘Ave Maria’ was given at the Lubomirski Castle in Nowy Wiśnicz, in the place where the record had been recorded. The programme of the concert covered the entire repertoire from the newly released CD. During the event three world premieres of the pieces composed especially for ‘Puellae Orantes’ to the album took place. These were the works of Paweł Łukaszewski, Marcel Chyrzyński, Miłosz Bembinow, Łukasz Farcinkiewicz and the Candian composer of Philippines origin –Louie Madrid Calleja.

29/08/2012 PREMIERE OF THE ALBUM ‘AVE MARIA’

The Girls’ Cathedral Choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ released its eighth CD record - ‘Ave Maria’. The album contains fifteen most beautiful pieces of ‘Ave Maria’. The repertoire is a sort of a review that begins with the Gregorian chant through the works of Renaissance, Romanticism, Neo-romanticism up to masterpieces of modern music. The most famous and the best known works composed by J.S.Bach/Ch.Gounod and F.Schubert and arranged for the choir, were recorded on this CD among other pieces. ‘Ave Maria’ record contains also songs specially composed on the request of the choir by the Polish composers: Paweł Łukaszewski, Paweł Sydor, Miłosz Bembinow as well as a development of a piece written by an outstanding composer of film music – Michał Lorenc. As the repertoire was selected very thoughtfully, the CD is of a warm and lyrical nature. The project was carried out in the cooperation with the string quartet ‘AIRIS’ and the harpist Elżbieta Baklarz. Solo parts are performed by Aleksandra Topor.

24–31/07/2012 INTERNATIONAL CHORAL CONTEST NAMED AFTER BELA BARTOK IN DEBRECEN (HUNGARY)

In July this year, the Girls’ Cathedral Choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ participated in the International Contest named after Bela Bartok in Debrecen, in Hungary. By the decision of the Artistic Board and the Jury of the Contest, ‘Puellae Orantes’ received the Special Prize of the largest Hungarian musical notes publisher - Edito Musica Music Publishing Ltd., for the most outstanding interpretation of the obligatory piece ‘Beatus vir’.

26/04/2012 FRYDERYK 2012 AWARD FOR THE ALBUM ‘ŁUKASZEWSKI & BEMBINOW’

On 26 April, 2012, at the ceremonial Gala in the Dramatyczny Theatre in Warsaw, the choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ received the most important award of the Polish music market – the statuette Fryderyk 2012 for the album ‘Łukaszewski & Bembinow. Carols and Pastorals’ in the category of Album of the Year – Choral and Oratorio Music.

23/03/2012 THE DAY OF POLISH –HUNGARIAN FRIENDSHIP

On 23 March this year the Girls’ Cathedral Choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ preformed during celebrations of the Day of Polish-Hungarian Friendship which took place in Szeged, Hungary. The choir was invited by the voivodeship of Csongrád and the Polish Embassy in Budapest. The celebrations were held with the participation of the Presidents of Poland and Hungary.

21/02/2012 NOMINATION OF THE ALBUM ‘ŁUKASZEWSKI & BEMBINOW. CAROLS AND PASTORALS‘ FOR FRYDERYK 2012 AWARD


Members of the Phonographic Academy will choose laureates to this year award by 29 March, 2012. We will get to know the results of their voting at the Gala which will be broadcasted by TVP 2. Until then, the envelopes with the names of winners will be kept in the notary deposit.

15/01/2012 CONCERT IN THE CONCERT HALL OF THE FRYDERYK CHOPIN UNIVERSITY OF MUSIC IN WARSAW

The concert took place as a part of the series called Interpretations of Choral Music in the Concert Hall of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.

The series has a long tradition and is very popular with the public. In the previous artistic seasons the University hosted many choral teams from academic centres and music environments of Poland. The concert was titled CHORAL MUSIC OF WARSAW COMPOSERS.

12/01/2012 CONCERT IN THE PHILHARMONIC NAMED AFTER KAROL SZYMANOWSKI IN KRAKÓW

The concert promoted the album ‘Łukaszewski & Bembinow. Carols and Pastorals’ which was awarded with the Gold DVD.
The performers were: the Girls’ Cathedral Choir ‘Puellae Orantes and String Quartet ‘Dafȏ. The conductors were: Rev. Wadysław Pachota and Miłosz Bembinow.

07/01/2012 SECOND TARNÓW NEW YEAR CONCERT

On January 7, 2012, in Theatre named after L. Solski, the Second Tarnów New Year Concert took place. The world famous Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio ‘AMADEUS’ , conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal, made their guest appearance at the concert.

The Orchestra has recorded for the Polish Radio over 9500 minutes of music with the repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary times and has given hundreds of concerts transmitted by the Polish Radio. They have cooperated with foreign radio broadcasting institutions, recording mainly Polish music, among others with German NDR, WDR, SFB as well as with BBC in London, CBC in Montreal or with the Mexican Radio.

22/11/2011 ALBUM CD/DVD PREMIERE „ŁUKASZEWSKI & BEMBINOW. CHRISTMAS CAROLS AND PASTORALS”

A press conference, with the participation of the composer Miłosz Bembinow, took place on 22 November, 2011, in the Tarnów Theatre and was devoted to the new album CD/DVD ‘Łukaszewski & Bembinow. Christmas Carols and Pastorals.’

The album includes Christmas carols and pastorals composed and arranged for the choir by the Polish composers: Paweł Łukaszewski and Miłosz Bembinow. It was recorded in the cooperation with the outstanding string quartet ‘Dafô’, the three-time winner of ‘Fryderyk’ – the Polish Phonographic Academy Award.

02/07/2011 AWARD OF TARNÓW CITY

The Cathedral Girls’ Choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ won the Award of Tarnów City in the field of artistic creativity.

The award has been granted for nine years in the form of a cash prize, a statuette, a commemorative diploma and an entry of a winner’s name into the Tarnów City Commemorative Book of Awards.

19/06/2011 FINAL CONCERT OF THE FESTIVAL named after GUSTAV MAHLER

On the occasion of the 100 anniversary of Gustav Mahler’s death – who was one of the most outstanding symphonists in the history of music – the Cracow Philharmonic organised Gustav Mahler’s Festival. The Girls’ Cathedral Choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ took part in the Final Concert of the Festival, during which VIII Symphony Es-dur by Gustav Mahler was performed. The concert took place on 19.06.2011 in the church of St. Catherine in Cracow.

12-15/05/2011 THE INTERNATIONAL CHORAL CONTEST named after Prof. G. DIMITROV inn VARNA (Bulgaria)

From 12-15.05.2011 The Girls’ Cathedral Choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ participated in the International Choral Contest named after Georgi Dimitrov in Varna.
The Tarnow Choir received the highest rating in the category of youth choirs and aspired to the Grand Prix Varna 2011 as one of the three best choirs of the contest.
The Grand Prix was won by the choir Ateneo from the Philipines (Manila) which is the oldest university choir in this country and whose history goes back to 1921. The choir is a multi winner of various international contests which testifies to the rank of the Varna contest.

08/01/2011 NEW YEAR’S CONCERT in Tarnow

On 8 January, 2011 at 7.30 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica in Tarnow, the New Year’s Concert took place. The program of the concert included carols and pastorals prepared for the choir ‘Puellae Orantes’ by the following composers: Paweł Łukaszewski and Miłosz Bembinow and carols designed for a string quartet by Zbigniew Słowik.
