On December 30, during the New Year’s Concert, the Girls’ Cathedral Choir “Puellae Orantes”, received the Platinum Disc Award for the album “Christmas Time” on the hand of the Choir conductor, Rev. Władysław Pachota. This exceptional award was given by the Director of the Collective Management Organization of the Audio Video Producers Union – Mr. Bogusław Pluta. This is a spectacular success, because the status of Platinum Disc in classical music is absolutely unique. In 2018, this distinction was granted by the Association of Audio-Video Producers to only one more album, with the music of Hans Zimmer – a world-class film music composer and a two-time Grammy winner.
For this special occasion, the choir released a limited series of “Christmas Time” vinyl records. Expressing gratitude for the help in the release of the album, awarded with the Platinum Disc, the choir management handed a copy of the vinyl record to all sponsors.
The New Year’s concert took place in the Centrum Sztuki Mościce and consisted of two parts. In the first one, the repertoire was presented from the awarded album, means it was composed of the Polish carols and the most popular Christmas songs in the world, in unique, atmospheric arrangements by Łukasz Farcinkiewicz. Together with the choir appeared the String Quartet “Apotheosis” and “Krakowski Kwintet Blaszany” band.
The second part of the concert consisted of songs from the “Szlakiem Straussa” album, and thus the waltzes and polkas of the Strauss dynasty. He presented the famous New Year’s Viennese repertoire to the piano accompaniment of Łukasz Farcinkiewicz – a composer and pianist.
