22/09/2017 – Concert at the European Music Center Krzysztof Penderecki in Lusławice

The concert was an opportunity to present the repertoire performed by the Girls’ Cathedral Choir “Puellae Orantes” during the International Competition “Leonardo da Vinci” in Florence.

The choir performed in three categories, winning a gold diploma in the category of sacred music, winning the category of youth and university choirs, which claimed him to participate in the Grand Prix competition and winning a silver diploma in the category of pop, folk, jazz.

One of the main goals of the choir’s participation in important and prestigious events is the promotion of Polish culture and Polish composers. Following this assumption, the Tarnów team performed during the competition works by the following Polish composers: Stanisław Moniuszko, Edward Bury, Miłosz Bembinow, Jacek Sykulski, and Łukasz Farcinkiewicz. Most of these pieces were composed or arranged for the choir.

At the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center, the choir presented all the compositions performed in Florence. It was a dozen tracks, thematically and stylistically diverse due to the choir’s participation in various categories.

One of the competition requirements was to prepare an Italian work. The choir performed the song “Nel blu dipinto di blu”, known as “Volare”, developed by Łukasz Farcinkiewicz.

The concert ended with the work of Giuseppe Verdi – “Va, pensiero”. It is a song of slaves from the opera “Nabucco”, which was performed by “Puellae Orantes” during the final concert at the Verdi Theater.
