On November 10, during the celebration of the National Independence Day in Tarnów, the “Puellae Orantes” choir together with the orchestra “Sinfonia Galicya” performed the Gala Concert. The celebrations took place in the Centrum Sztuki Mościce.

During the concert, the world premiere of the work “Missa pro Patria” by Łukasz Farcinkiewicz – a Warsaw composer, with which the choir has been collaborating since 2012, took place. The Mass for the Homeland was composed for the 100th anniversary of Poland’s Independence. The creative assumption was the creation of a work close to the heart of every Pole, hence the motifs taken from Polish music literature – Chopin’s polonaises and mazurkas and the songs like “Boże coś Polskę”, “Jak szczęśliwa Polska cała” or “Bogurodzica”, and in the individual parts of the work. the final motive was taken from the Polish national anthem named “Mazurek Dąbrowskiego”.

Especially for the needs of this project, the orchestra “Sinfonia Galicya” was created. It is composed of excellent instrumentalists playing in the best Polish orchestras on a daily basis.

The orchestra was created and prepared by Piotr Tarcholik – 1st concert master of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, lecturer at the Music Academy in Krakow, where he conducts the violin class.

The choir also invited Alexander Humala to conduct the “Missa pro Patria”.  He is an outstanding conductor, a laureate of many prestigious awards and scholarships, including twice he received the award of the Polish Minister of Culture – Gaude Polonia. He was employed as a conductor at the Opera Studio of the Belarusian Music Academy, he worked as assistant conductor at the Wrocław Opera, the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw and the National Opera in Lyon. He is the main conductor and artistic director of the Belarusian State named “Capella Sonorus”.

The concert was financed from the budget of the city of Tarnów.
